Indoor Soccer
Only Two Weeks Left!
We have heard great things about this year's Indoor Soccer Season. We truly hope you are enjoying the experience with your child.
With only two weeks left, we would like to remind you of your responsibility to work at the moderator position and the concession stand as scheduled. Without your volunteerism, we cannot run this Indoor Season. This year was a trial run for assigning teams to be responsible for these jobs. At the end of the season, the Board will analyze the process and try to determine whether or not we can continue with this Indoor Soccer program. Please remind your friends of their responsibility!!! Only volunteers can make this happen!
On a side note, we would appreciate if Mother Nature could keep her sloppy stuff from happening for the rest of the year :) We understand that many players were trapped at their homes and couldn't make their games. Fortunately, as long as there is power at the gym, we will always have games, so for those of you who made the treacherous trek into town, we hope you had a fun day!
The Board hopes that everyone is having a great season filled with fun and emphasis on the kids developing their skills.
Please let us know if we can do anything to make this season more successful.

| Board Members
WE NEED YOU ON OUR BOARD!!
The Board of AYSO Region 689 is just like any other organization.....it is made up entirely of volunteers.
Most of the Board members wear many different hats to insure the kids of Ogemaw County have a great soccer season - some are refs, some are coaches, some are just happy spectators.
But, some of the Board members have been on the Board for several years and would like to turn over their duties to someone NEW!!
So, we are asking for new volunteers to step forward and help us out! We would love to continue this organized soccer for the community, but cannot continue to do so if there are not any Board members to organize it!!!
We especially need a Field Maintenance Board Member, as we are gearing up to do some major renovations at the fields.

| AYSO's Parent's Code of Conduct
Just a Reminder......
We would like to remind ALL parents (including coaches and referees) that although everyone likes to win games, individual skills development and team spirit are just as important as winning. Please watch what you say around your children regarding their team, their coach, the referees, etc., as children learn so easily from examples.
As a parent, you play a special role in contributing to the needs and development of youngsters.
Through your encouragment and good example, you can help assure that all the boys and girls learn good sportsmanship and self-discipline. In AYSO, young people learn to work together, to sacrifice for the good of the team, to enjoy winning and deal appropriately with defeat - all while becoming physically fit and healthy. Best of all, they have fun.
SUPPORT YOUR CHILD
Supporting your child by giving encouragement and showing interest in their team is very important.
Help your child work toward skill improvement and good sportsmanship in every game. Teach your child that hard work and an honest effort are often more important than victory - that way your child will always be a winner despite the outcome of the game!
ALWAYS BE POSITIVE
Parents serve as role models for their children. Become aware of this and work to be a positive role model. Applaud good plays by your child's team as well as good plays by the opposing team.
Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from youth sports activities.
REMEMBER: YOUR CHILD WANTS TO HAVE FUN
Remember that your child is the one playing soccer, not you. It's very important to let children establish their own goals - to play the game for themselves. Take care not to impose your own standards and goals on them.
Don't put too heavy a burden on your child to win games. Surveys reveal that 72% of children would rather play for a losing team than ride the bench for a winning team.
Children play for the fun of playing.
REINFORCE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR
Positive reinforcement is the best way to help your child achieve their goals and their natural fear of failure. Nobody likes to make mistakes. If your child does make one, remember it's all part of learning, so encourage your child's efforts and point out the good things your child accomplished.
DON'T BE A SIDELINE COACH OR REFEREE
Coaches and referees are usually parents just like you. They volunteer their time to help make your child's youth soccer experience a positive one. They need your support too.
That means refraining from coaching or refereeing from the sidelines. As a volunteer organization, there's usually always an opportunity for you to take your interest in coaching or refereeing to the next level and become one yourself! |
